Job Title: Fabrication Manager

Role Overview

As the Beef Fabrication Manager, you will lead and oversee the fabrication department to ensure all production, safety, and quality standards align with corporate objectives. This role requires technical expertise to consistently meet goals across production targets, carcass yields, labor efficiency, and key performance indicators (KPIs).


Core Responsibilities

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and motivation to a multi-disciplinary production team.

  • Oversee and evaluate the performance of department supervisors, managing daily work assignments, performance appraisals, rewards, and conflict resolution.

  • Manage departmental administrative tasks, including establishing optimal crewing levels, facilitating job cross-training, and executing employee development plans.

  • Foster cross-departmental alignment by communicating effectively with IT, HR, Accounting, and Finance teams.

Operational Strategy & Financial Performance

  • Drive continuous evaluation of short- and long-term departmental goals and objectives.

  • Formulate and manage operational budget plans and implement strategic initiatives to maximize profitability.

  • Contribute to the strategic planning of broader operational activities and capital expenditure projects.

  • Track, analyze, and report on daily operational results, production tests, and initiatives.

Quality Control & Process Optimization

  • Oversee carcass breaks and exact product specifications to strictly hit quality and yield targets.

  • Embed continuous quality improvement principles into the production pipeline to boost overall employee productivity.

  • Partner closely with Quality Assurance teams to ensure products meet high standards and consistently drive positive customer feedback.

  • Refine existing processes and operational policies to better support corporate metrics for quality and client satisfaction.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Cultivate a safety-first culture by ensuring strict adherence to all internal safety protocols as well as state and federal laws.

  • Guarantee that the fabrication department consistently meets or exceeds all national and international compliance standards.


Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically within a beef processing plant, with 10+ years of overall relevant industry experience preferred.

  • Industry Knowledge: Extensive, specialized knowledge of beef cuts and production workflows.

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; a college education is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Communication: Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English with strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with a diverse workforce and upper management. Bilingual capabilities are a strong asset but not required.

  • Technical & Soft Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and conflict-management capabilities.

  • Legal: Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.


Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, climb, balance, and lift up to 50 pounds. This role requires significant physical activity and full-body mobility.

  • Environmental Factors: Comfortable working 8 to 10 hours a day in an active plant environment subject to extreme cold, heat, wet, or humid conditions (non-weather related).

  • Plant Hazards: Daily exposure to loud noises, slippery floors, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts.

  • Safety Protocol: Strict adherence to a fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and the consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

  • Schedule Flexibility: Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to support shifting production demands.
